20 Random Facts

And here goes numero uno for 25 Things My Kids Should Know About Me.
I tried to actually think hard about these.  I wanted every fact to mean something and to maybe define a little bit about who I am.

1. I have a strong testimony in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

2. I believe every little thing happens for a reason.

3. I am a lover of music.  I have a new favorite song every day.  Today it's Run by Snow Patrol or maybe 'Til Kingdom Comes by Coldplay.

4. I am a very strong believer of being kind to everyone.  If I could only teach one thing to my kids, it would be to be nice to every single person they meet.

5. I want to take a class in photography, calligraphy, and cooking.

6. My dream place to visit is New Zealand.

7. I would like to go back to school and become a obstetrician.  I think bringing life into this world is one of the most beautiful things, and I would love to be part of that on a daily basis.

8. I have wanted long hair my entire life.

9. I love thunderstorms.  I love watching them, listening to them, everything.

10. I have a legitimate fear of spending my life alone, unloved.

11. Family means everything to me.

12. I think too much.  I may be quiet, but my head is always going.  I overthink every little thing I do, making the majority of things I do way harder than they need to be.

13. My whole life I wanted three or four kids.  After Hazel was born, I felt like I had so much more love in me to give.  I now want five or six kids.

14. I'm the biggest scaredy-cat you'll ever meet. Everything scares me.  Snowboarding, waterslides, tubing behind a boat, hiking, snorkeling, everything.  You name it, it probably scares me.  This probably has to do with the fact I think too much.

15. My favorite foods are anything involving key lime or coconut or pineapple.

16. My dream home is an old house with lots of character, surrounded with lots of trees and secret gardens.  This one, to be exact.

17.  I keep everything inside.  Not recommended.  My whole life I have pretty much seemed unemotional just because I keep all my emotions locked up inside me.  Trust me, I'm full of emotions.

18.  I hate when people put other people down, to their face or behind their back.  There's nothing that bugs me more.  I think there's enough going on in the world that people don't need judgment added to their plate.  It's not fair.

19. I'm a bookworm.  Give me a book, and that's all I do until it's finished.  I can't help it.

20. My favorite quote is from Jeffrey R. Holland.  "In the gospel of Jesus Christ, you have help from both sides of the veil, and you must never forget that.  When disappointment and discouragement strike...remember and never forget that if your eyes could be opened, we would see horses and chariots of fire as far as the eye can see riding at reckless speed to come to our protection."

25 Things My Kids Should Know About Me

My blog essentially is somewhat of a journal for me and something that I hope my kids will be able to read one day.  The only problem is I'm downright horrible at being consistent. I would love to be somebody who is able to keep an updated record of my life and the important things that are going on.  It's crazy how fast I forget the little things.

It's not just the little things either.  Hazel's only a year old, and I can barely remember her newborn little self.  I always want to remember her beautiful newborn smell and her tiny sweet cry; the way she hated being wrapped up tight and her adorable baby chub.  I need to remember how she only likes soft blankets and the way she rubs it between her fingers and against her face to fall asleep. I most importantly want to remember how much she loves me.  There's nothing better than her big hugs and kisses she'll give me every morning and her cuddles at night.

As important as remembering every little moment of Hazel and any other kids I might have, I think it's just as important that they know me.  One day I'm not going to be here for my beautiful children, and I hope with all my heart that they remember me and know that I love them more than they will ever know.  I want them to know I'm definitely not perfect but that I'm trying my best to be someone they'll be proud of.

I came upon this list during one of my Pinterest sessions.  I think it's a fantastic way to help my kids know the little things about me.  Little by little my goal is to finish off this list.  Here's to hoping this doesn't take me a year to do.

Letters to Hazel 2

Hazel Nut,

I can't believe you're already one!  I can't believe I have been lucky enough to be your mom for a whole year now.  Hands down it has been the most wonderful year of my life.  Every little laugh and smile melts my heart.  Your cuddles every night are my favorite, and as much as I complain about you sleeping with me and dad each night, I secretly love it.  I can't wait to go to bed so I can get my cuddles from my sweet girl.

Today I just want you to know how much I love you.  I hope you always, always remember that.  My love for you continues to grow every single day.  I sometimes feel like my heart is going to burst because of how much I love you.  I had no idea I could love someone as much as I love you.

You make my life magical and special and beautiful.  Already I can tell that you have such a big heart.  You make sure to give me a hug every morning, and you're the sweetest little girl to other babies.  You're going to be someone to look up to, I know it.  You are so special and make me want to become a better person.

Hazel, I love you.  I love you with my whole entire heart.  I love you all the way to the moon and back.  You were exactly what I needed in life.  I know without a doubt that Heavenly Father sent you to me because I needed you.   You will never know just how amazing you have made my life.  I am so happy I have a little girl to follow me around and be my best friend.  I am the luckiest mom ever!

You're beautiful, Haze.

One year older and wiser too

A Peach

This stinker got mad at me and bit me today.
Is she even old enough to know to do that?
She's a peach.
I love her.

Bossy

Oops.

It's been a reeallly long time since I've blogged.  I can't help it, Hazel keeps me busy. She has become the bossiest of girls, and I think I'm in trouble with this one. I will admit that I think the blame of that is to fall upon her parents.

We're pushovers, to put it lightly.
Hazel doesn't like going to bed at night unless all three of us are in bed together.  So off we go to bed at 9:30 every night.  It takes me an extra hour to get her to bed if Tyler's gone.

We've tried letting her cry it out.  But she cries and cries and cries and yells and doesn't ever stop.  You do not want to make this little girl mad.  She has a temper like you wouldn't believe.

BUT when shes's happy, she's really happy.  I think I'll keep her.

Hurray, more videos.  Anything for Auntie Sonia.

And that is what happens when daddy is gone and it's time to go to bed.  Take note that I was definitely in bed with her.  She has such a hard life.

She's in love with her dad.  And me too, of course.

Remember when she would barely even smile?  Now all you need to do is make a loud noise.  She'll think that you're hilarious.

She loves herself.

Soooo sleepy, but no way is she going to miss out on the bumpy ride.

And she's a beautiful dancer.  Ask her to dance, and nine times out of ten she'll do it for you.  Every time she hears music that little bum starts to shake.  She's my favorite.

And more videos to come in another 2 months probably!  They take so stinkin' long to upload!
